Travel Document Process
We at RWNS recognise the importance of reconnecting with loved ones and this may involve travel to visit once you are able to do so, for example, when you receive your asylum decision and leave to remain.
Please consider the costs involved in obtaining a travel document. Currently It costs:
£82 for adults (it’s free if you were born before 1 September 1929)
£53 for children 15 or under
You may also wish to wait until you are settled in accommodation before making any travel plans.
Do not send your BRP – you’ll need to keep this as proof of identity.
There are instructions on how to apply for a travel document here:
https://www.gov.uk/apply-home-office-travel-document/how-to-apply
Please check that your destination country accepts this document before you spend any money.
RWNS volunteers can help you apply but please be advised that health, housing, employment and money matters take priority.
