How can Refugees Welcome North Somerset support you?
- Register you for Universal Credit and open a bank account
- Talk to you about short-term accommodation options with your friends and family
- Complete your duty to refer to be registered as homeless with North Somerset Council
- Start your housing application for social housing (Note that council houses are extremely limited)
- Put you on our waiting list for any available rooms in shared houses
- Support you with job applications and navigating the UK job market
- Help you manage an existing tenancy you are living in
What to do first?
When you become a refugee, you will have 28 days until you need to leave your hotel accommodation. During these 28 days, you will receive:
- Your eVisa Log In details
- Your Leave to Remain Home Office Letter
- Your Notice to Quit / Vacate Home Office Letter
Take a photo of all of these documents, and keep them safe in one place where you will not lose
them. To make sure you understanding your housing responsibilities below, contact finnmckendrick@refugeeswelcomensomerset.onmicrosoft.com as soon as possible with your completed housing consent form!
