A gift from the community

A big thank you to North Somerset Training and Race Equality North Somerset for their generous donation!

We were delighted to receive the money raised at a recent jubilee celebration event at The Other Place, Weston-Super-Mare.

Ivi Paduim-quan, manager of North Somerset Training, joined us at our Welcome Cafe to present the cheque. Thank you so much to the team for their kind donation and to everyone at The Other Place for making us feel so welcome. This will help fund activities for our members over the summer.

The weekly Welcome Cafe

The cafe is a social group held every week in the centre of Weston Super Mare. It’s run by volunteers, and since it began in March this year, has supported over 40 new arrivals and resettled refugees and displaced people to the area.

How to help refugees in North Somerset

We’re currently in need of new volunteer befrienders, particularly those based in Weston-Super-Mare and near Bristol airport.
